Welcome to the Internet home of musician, producer, arranger, director, composer and broadcaster Andrew Craig!
I'm glad you've come to visit - I hope you enjoy my little corner of the Web...
This is the place to learn about me, hear samples of my music and purchase CDs, see photos and video of my work (all coming eventually!), and find out about my upcoming performances. Please bookmark this page; I hope you come back often!
Many artist websites speak about the artist in the third person. Since this is a .me address, I thought you should feel like you're getting the information from me directly. So feel free to make it a dialog - send me an e-mail, and tell me what you think of the site, and of my music!
news
It's a busy time for me these days - so much so, that I tire of the word busy! A colleague once suggested that I instead should say I'm "fantastically engaged". So let's say that - I'm fantastically engaged.
As part of my Residency at the Young Centre For the Performing Arts in Toronto, I'll be taking part in the 2nd annual Waves Festival - June 18 through 20. This is a tremendous festival of new work, spanning music, dance, theatre and spoken word. For three days, we blast you with new works in 15-minute increments - many of them spontaneous. It's totally fun, family-friendly, and totally free! If you're in Toronto this weekend, there's no better way to spend your time. Come down, and be a part of the magic!
Work on Oil and Water continues apace - we're workshopping the music in the coming weeks. Oil and Water is a new theatre production by an award-winning Newfoundland theatre company, Artistic Fraud Of Newfoundland. It should be a marvellous creative period - I'm looking forward.
Work continues on the TV version of The Sistahs Concert. If you've never produced a show for television, let me tell you: it's way more work than you think it is! That said, we're really happy with the way the show is developing. It'll be on the air in the fall of 2010. I'll give you all the info when the broadcast time is coming up. And of course, the CD is an ongoing process (a CD is also more work than you think it is). But when it comes out, it will be a serious thing. Check back for updates on that.
I'm pretty excited about the fact that I've signed on to produce the next record for Autorickshaw. They've been close friends of mine for a long time, and I look forward to helping them step up their game. That record should (hopefully) be done by the fall of 2010 - stay tuned. I'm also in discussions with another artist about producing an album for him this year.
And of course, I've still got my regular radio gig: Canada Live, the national nightly live concerts program. That airs Monday through Friday at 7pm on CBC Radio 2, and Fridays at 2pm on CBC Radio One.
Finally, I'm putting more and more thought and energy into my own CDs. I have the goal to have a product in hand by the end of this year - there, I said it (well, wrote it). I'm on the hook now - so keep on me about it!
That's it for now - thanks for reading. If you can do some sleeping on my behalf, I'd appreciate it!
Peace, A.C.
